The transformation of both golf course renovations are now complete with the multi-million dollar project, consisting of a 330 room 4-Star Hotel, 125 Timeshares/Condos, and 125 home sites, in progress. The front nine holes on the Bayonet Course debuted in May '07 with eight renovated holes and a completely new hole, #9 formerly #5, at the legendary course. The most recent opening of the back nine holes on Bayonet occured on December 20, 2008. Those who remember the challenging "Combat Corner" will be pleased that Golf Course Designer, Gene Bates, kept the integrity of the challenging series of dog-leg left holes in tact with some slight uncompromising modifications.
The back nine holes at Black Horse, completed May 1, 2008, have undergone the most dramatic change to include the creation of a new par three hole #15, which replaced the previous #13 par three. The views from the course have been expanded even more to showcase the breathtaking scenery of the National Marine Sanctuary of The Monterey Bay. The front side of Black Horse debuted in December as well and are proving themselves worthy of play.
Renovations to the course included the following:
- Installation of a state of the art irrigation system
- Addition and redesign of bunkers
- A redesign and/or rebuilding of greens to USGA specifications
- Removal of Kikuyugrass and regrass on all 36 holes
